From Knock Knock.  Me want.  But then my apartment is stocked with empty journals waiting to be filled.  The story of my life yet to be writ.

Breathtaking

Thanks to Neatorama for pointing me to this video.  In my dreams this is how my life would be choreographed and my heart would soar.

“Precious”

November 15, 2009 by the flaming curmudgeon

moniqueRarely am I completely blown away by a performance in a film.  But without my usual buckets of verbiage I just want to say that Mo’nique’s performance in Precious is hands down one of the most spectacular efforts by an actress I have been lucky enough to witness.  Just give her an Oscar®.  Best Actress, not Best Supporting Actress.  The galaxies of despair this woman coughs up set fire to the screen.  So scarily real it makes the stomach churn.  Her monologue toward the end of the film left me breathless and empty — unable to cry because the truth went beyond where most truth goes.  Comic actresses always make the best dramatic actresses.  See the film.  Let me know if I’m wrong.monique.precious

AT&T

November 10, 2009 by the flaming curmudgeon

I swear these days it is a never-ending battle to just eke out a living without being nickle-and-dimed up the ass without a condom by corporations to whom I have been loyal for decades.  Recently, my new AT&T wireless bill became available online and I happily perused it.  But I could not figure out why there was a random usage charge for text messaging when I had switched to unlimited text messaging a month ago.  I checked out the itemized portion of the bill and it looked like for two days at the beginning of last month AT&T had charged me 5 cents per text message.  Now, previously I had been paying the fee for 1500 text messages for month and I had not gone over my limit.  att-logo-orangeSo on Sunday I spent 45 minutes on the phone with billing support trying to find out why this happened and why I was being charged an extra $4.50 when I was covered for text messages under both current and previous plans.  I even stumped the support person.  At one point he informed me that this was a charge for changing my service but I told him that if that were true, it should be listed as a change in service charge and not as some bizarre pro rated (his term) text messaging charge.  Also, I argued, if there were a fee for changing services this ought to be indicated online before I accepted this charge.  It is not.  The ball-busting greed of these telecommunications companies astounds me.  I get charged a “data” charge but that doesn’t cover text messaging (which is some sort of data, is it not?) but, fine, I pay it.  But I will not pay this extra hidden non-disclosed pro rated fee slipped into my bill under cloak of darkness.  Even after checking with his supervisor my help center person agreed to waiving the fee.  But I think of the millions this company will make from people who don’t check these things and just pay up.  Not the Flaming Curmudgeon!  Not the goddamned self-righteous howler monkey squeezing the last breath out of every red-blooded American penny!

Friday in the park with the ball – part two

I am dog sitting this week. Bailey is a sweetie. She requires a lot of attention but she is very good and specific with her pee and poop and I appreciate that. I have been taking videos with my iPod to send to her mommy who is in London right now. Bailey could not care less.

My sentiments EXACTLY!

From a newly discovered favorite UNREMITTING FAILURE:

Life which is pretty much all pain is a joke.  Life which is pretty much all joke is a pain.  You wake up and the joke starts.  You wake up and the pain starts.  You wake up and the painful joke begins.  You go through the day in pain.  You go through the day and it’s a joke not to be taken seriously although it hurts.  It hurts and it’s a joke like Bavarians dancing.  You laugh so hard it hurts.  You hurt so hard you laugh.  It’s the joke that hurts, that’s life.  It’s the life that hurts, that’s the joke.   It’s life that’s the joke, and it hurts.
